why i always fall asleep on you

it’s not that you’re boring. quite the opposite, in fact. you’re probably the most fascinating person in my life.

but whenever i’m around you, i feel sleepy.

i mean, i don’t sleep enough in my normal life, because i’m always afraid.

afraid of the shadows

or the test i have to take tomorrow

or the break-ins that happened last week

or the fact that i’m going to die someday.

but when i’m around you, i let my guard down. i forget all that. i am completely at peace, and i don’t have a care in the world other than making sure that i see you smile. i’m not afraid, because nothing can go wrong when you’re around.

and that is why i fall asleep on top of you.
